Srivanchiyam is an idyllic and elegant village located in Tiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu, and is best known for its Sri Vanchinadha Swamy temple.

Sri Vanchinadha Swamy Temple

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of Vanchinathan and the name of the Goddess is Mangalambika. The sthala vriksham (sacred tree of this temple) is Sandalwood tree. The sacred tank of this sthalam (place) is called the GuptaGangai.

The following are some unique features of this temple:

*It has a separate Sannathi for Yama. Those who die in this village are considered to be free from the sufferings preceding their death.

*It has two nandhis facing both sides of Lord Vanchinadha.

*Rahu-Kethu, carved out in a composite sculpture
*A separate sannathi for Saneeswara

Guptha Gangai

A sacred tank in which goddess Ganga herself bathes to cleanse herself from the sins. A holy dip in this tank is equivalent to that of one in Kasi.

Karthigai Gnayeru Festival

During the Tamil month of Kaarththigai, Theerthavari is conducted in the Guptha Gangai on all Sundays. It also includes a ten day festival and a car festival at the end of the month. A lot of people take part in this festival.
Lots of other small temples are located in this village. It is a good place for worship.
