Indian Summer Music Festival

Indian Summer Music Festival

Indian Summer is an annual music festival sited in Victoria Park, Glasgow, Scotland. The two-day festival is noted for having a rather uncommonly laid-back and cosy atmosphere and for the availability of high-quality drinks and foodstuffs at its many stalls. Camping is not available and there is little in the way of accommodation in the predoominantly residential areas surrounding the site. The capacity is 6000 giving it an intimate feel. The Festival has however done a deal with the University of Glasgow to use the vacant student accommodation during the weekend.

2006

The inaugural Indian Summer was held on the weekend of the 2nd - 3rd of September 2006. Acts included The Fall, Amp Fiddler, Hot Chip, Mr. Scruff and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and it was critically revered amongst the music community.

2007

This year's event will take place on the 14th and 15th of July, with tickets (priced at £65 for the two days) available to the general public from March. Confirmed acts include the Flaming Lips, The Rapture, Wilco, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Midlake, Jaymay and Optimo, with more to be announced in due course. Festival organisers have announced there will be at least three main musical arenas at the festival: BBC 6 Music Hub stage, Main Stage, Optimo presents Espacio tent (in association with Four Roses), with Scottish coffee house chain Beanscene also presenting an acoustic tent.BBC 6 Music will be recording the event so it can be listened to later. Explosions in the Sky were originally billed to play but pulled out due to family illness.
