In his book "PiHKAL (Phenethylamines i Have Known And Loved)", DMPEA has shown to produce no effects when tested with very high doses, such as 1000 mg or 10 mgintravenous . Very little data exists about the pharmacological properties, metabolism, and toxicity of DMPEA. This chemical occurs naturally, along with 4-hydroxy-3,5-DMPEA, inOpuntia exaltata , a species of "Prickly Pear "cactus .See also
