Cwmtawe Comprehensive School is a modern, English medium education comprehensive school situated in Pontardawe, south Wales. Cwmtawe has very good Key Stage 3 and GCSE results that are higher than the national standard in Wales. In 2000 the school was in 113th place in Wales for GCSE passes (based on 5 GCSEs, grades A-C). Since then, exam results have improved dramatically and according to the latest inspection report by Estyn the school has a GCSE pass rate of 73%, which puts it equal 17th place (or within the top 10%) in Wales.

The new building was built in 1996 and the old building is currently being used by the local council. Cwmtawe recently won eco-schools award for environmentally friendly schools, which is based on school improvements, community and curriculum links as well as saving money and raising awareness.
