History
The Smith family (John Jerry, Janice and their three children) felt called to Guayaquil. They moved there in 1985, took over a small house church of around 50 people in Urdesa, with the additional goal of establishing a foundation for the benefit of impoverished children. With the help of an important contribution they accumulated the funds to buy a block of land. They developed a school which included a very functional multi-use auditorium that doubled as sanctuary space. Today Centro Cristiano has a modern church facility with seating for approximately 3,500 people and additonal space for Christian Education and Children's Ministries. The church has grown to more than 7,000 in weekly attendance.
Pastor Jerry Smith has developed an outstanding staff who are some of the best in their field. Pastor Jerry presents a positive, insightful and biblically based message that has inspired thousands both in Ecuador and beyond. He is a visionary Christian leader who makes a coordinated effort with his team to help people achieve their God-given potential. Pastor Jerry is particularly passionate about providing children a quality education that will provide them with the tools to become productive citizens and leaders in all walks of life.
