Shawnee Cave

Shawnee Cave is located in Spring Mill State Park in the state of Indiana. Access to the cave is controlled by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Shawnee Cave, also called Donaldson Cave and/or Donaldson-Bronson Cave consists of just over 8,000 feet of passage, which is actually the lower stream-portion of Twin caves, also located in Spring Mill State Park. Shawnee cave can be entered through the Bronson Cave Entrance and exited via the Donaldson Entrance. The lower portion connecting Shawnee cave to Twin caves is extremely dangerous and is off limits.

Access to Shawnee Cave can be arranged by visiting the Park office at Spring Mill State Park. As long as you meet the following requirements, you will probably be issued a caving permit:

* Minimum of 3 Person
* Minimum of 3 sources of light per person
* Each person must have helmet
* Each person must be at least 16 years of age
* Permits will not be issued on days when rain is expected, you at any time after the park closes.NOTE: There are 3 spots that during normal water level, you will be swimming at least 3 times!
