Sree Narayana Public School

Sree Narayana Public School is an educational institution affliated to CBSE based in Kollam town in the south Indian state of Kerala, established in the year 1987 under the management of the Sree Narayana Educational Society. The society is a voluntary, social and cultural organisation, the members of which are drawn from all walks of life, comprising of persons who believe in the teachings of the great social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.

Location

The school is located in a beautiful campus 5 km from Kollam town, off the National Highway NH-47, and is near to the by-pass road from Thattamala which passes through Mulluvila village.

The 15 acre campus houses the present buildings, a beautiful garden and play grounds. A vast green paddy field in front of the campus is an added attraction.

Public involvement

In keeping with the preachings of the Sree Narayana Guru, resources for the growth and development of the school come from individuals and groups irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The Kollam Unit of the Sree Narayana Samskarika Samithy has subscribed an Institiutional Membership of Rs. 1 lakh.

Growth and developmental activities

The foundation stone of the Primary Section of the school building (Dr. Palpu Memorial Block) was laid by Shri. Saswatheekananda Swamy, President, Sree Narayana Dharma Sangam Trust, on 1 May, 1988. This block was completed in record time and was inaugurated by the then Minister for Education, Shri. K. Chandrasekharan on 15 May, 1990. The foundation stone of the new block (R. Sankar Memorial) to house the library and the laboratories was laid by Sri. T.K. Ramakrishnan, the then Minister for Culture on 5 December, 1990. This three-storeyed building, which forms the shorter limb of the ‘L’ shaped main building of the school, was completed by June 1993, and was officially inaugurated by the Honourable Minister for Education, Sri. E.T. Muhammed Bashir, on 11 November, 1995. The C.B.S.E. Commission which visited the school on 12 October, 1993, was satisfied with the classrooms, the library and laboratories made available for starting the Plus two (Std XI & XII) courses.

The foundation stone for the C. Kesavan Block, the longer wing of the main building, was laid by Prof. S. Sivaprasad, President, Sree Narayana Educational Society, on Monday 24 January, 1994. This building was completed and was inaugurated by Sri. E.K. Nayanar, Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala, on 15 February, 1998. The foundation stone of the Prof. S. Sivaprasad block was laid by Prof. K. Sasikumar, President, Sree Narayana Educational Society in March, 1999. This building with 12 classrooms and an auditorium was completed by the end of June 2000.

The school has got Nursery, Kindergarten, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, High School and Senior School Sections.

The Principal of the School is Mr. MK Sasidharan and Vice-Principal is Mrs. Savitri.

The first batch completed their AISSE (Equivalent to X Standard) in the year 1993. Most of them continued in the school to be part of the first batch of AISSCE (Equivalent to XII Standard) which passed out in the year 1995.
