Limni (Greek: Λίμνη meaning lake) is a Greek village in the northwestern part of the island and the prefecture of Euboea. Limni is located NNW of Chalkida and southeast of Istiea. Limni is also in the municipality of Elymnioi or Elymnies where it serves the seat of this municipality. Limni had a population of 2,118 in 2001. Limni is built on a mountain slope overlooking the Evian Gulf to the north. Limni is next to the ancient city of Elymnio. Limni is connected with the road connecting the GR-77 (Chalkida - Istiea).

Population

Geography

Limni is situated in a valley area. Farmlands are around the village, the forests dominate the area as well as grasslands and mountains to the east, the North Evian Gulf can be seen to the north. A stream flows near the village.

Information

Limni is also the home of the famous writer Nikos Tsiforos. The population has been losing which saw a rapid slowdown between 1981 and 1991 but cooled between 1991 and 2001.

Limni has a school, a gymnasium (middle school), a lyceum (secondary school), a church, a post office, a port, banks and a square ("plateia").
