- United Nations Security Council Resolution 1746
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1747, on the situation in Afghanistan, was adopted unanimously by the United Nations Security Council on 23 March 2007.
With this resolution the Security Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) for an additional one-year period. The Council welcomed the mission’s recently expanded presence in the provinces, but voiced its concern at the harm caused by the production and trafficking of opium. It also urged the Afghan government and members of the international community to do more to implement the Afghanistan Compact and stressed the importance of meeting the benchmarks set out in that document for security, governance and development.
