Tauno Johannes Luiro (
February 24 ,1932 –October 29 ,1955 ) was a Finnishski jumper who competed in the 1950s.He was born and died in
Rovaniemi .March 2 1951 Luiro jumped the new world record, 139 meters, inOberstdorf , which stayed unbeaten until 1961 and YugoslavJoze Slibar . In February 1951 Luiro became the first non-Norwegian who won the youth ski jumping competition inHolmenkollen ,Oslo . Luiro finished tied for 18th in the individual large hill event at the1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. Luiro, who suffered fromdiabetes , died for lung-tuberculosis in 1955. His ski club wasOunasvaaran Hiihtoseura .External links
