A. Maceo Walker the son of
Joseph Edison Walker and Lela (O'Neal) Walker. In 1938, he married Harriette Ish, with whom he fathered three children: Lily Patricia Walker, Antonio Maceo Walker, Jr. and Harriette Lucille Walker. He and his father, Dr. Joseph E. Walker, opened the Tri-state Bank & Trust Company (now known as the Tri-state Bank of Memphis) in 1946. In 1952, Walker became president of the Universal Life Insurance Company inMemphis, Tennessee , which his father founded in 1923. He ran the company until 1983, when he turned over leadership to his daughterPatricia Walker-Shaw . Upon her death in 1985, Walker resumed his position as president until he retired for the last time in 1990.References
