General Information
Gering High School (GHS) is the only high school in
Gering, Nebraska and is located at 1500 U St. It has an enrollment of 463 students and a student to teacher ratio of 14:1. GHS offers a full range academic courses as well as art, journalism and music programs. In addition to that, many extra-curricular after school clubs and sports programs are also made available for the student body. The school was the first in the district to use block scheduling. Block scheduling is the practice of having four, one and a half hour classes that alternate every other day. The representative for Nebraska's 3rd District,Adrian M. Smith , also graduated from Gering High School in 1989.Gering High School is a campus with a current enrollment of 625+ students (180 are Freshman Academy students located in the junior high building). A professional staff of more than 50 certified staff and 20 classified staff serve the students. Students are offered different course selections that include both academic and vocational choices as well as a host of specialties in fine and performing arts and a full compliment of extra curricular activities. A student may register for college preparatory or college credit classes, or they may be assured of class offerings for special needs or reinforcement of learning. The student body is supportive of each other and proud of their traditions and reputation as Gering Bulldogs.Mascot

Bulldog with school colors ofBlue andGold (color) .Test Scores
According to the STARS standardized test, 45% of students tested proficient in mathematics, while 89% proved proficient in Reading and 59% in writing.
