Mamoru Kobayakawa

Mamoru Kobayakawa (born 1972), is a New York City and Montreal-based artist, photographer and performer.

He has performed with Yuval Gabay/Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing), Marc Ribot (John Zorn, Tom Waits), DJ Logic, The Boredoms (Jpn), Michael Stipe, Sean Lennon, Cibo Matto, Didi Gutman, TV on the radio, Björk, Chan Marshall (CatPower), and numerous other American and English performers around the New York city music scene. He is known for his oft whimsical and melodic vocal improvisations and his layered compositions and songs going from folk to punk in style.

His photography teachers were fashion and photo documentarists such as Tim Petersen, Terry Richardson, Michael Behrendt, and Andrew Moore at Princeton University. His works have been exhibited in various group shows across the United States.

Mamoru holds a Masters of Music from McGill University. He has studied music composition with the likes of Ennio Morricone, Allan Crossman and Wolfgang Bottenberg.
