George Cooper (Tortallan character)

George Cooper is a character invented by Tamora Pierce, from many books set in the fictional realm of Tortall. He first appears in . He is approximately 7 years older than Alanna of Trebond, but he has already become the Rogue, or The King of Thieves in the capital city of Corus by age 17. He later becomes a good friend of Alanna and teaches her to fight barehanded or with a dagger. He is also the first person in Corus to learn she is really a girl and shares her first kiss.

George falls in love with Alanna in the second book of the series, though it is not until after she and Jonathan break up in the third book that they begin a relationship. She is in a relationship with Prince Jonathan of Conte until "The Woman Who Rides Like a Man", when they part ways. In the final book of the series Alanna accepts his proposal of marriage. He is also made Baron of Pirates Swoop, in an effort by King Jonathan to make him respectable. By the time of "Wild Magic" George and Alanna have had three children: Thom, and twins, Alan and Alianne. In this series he is a supporting character who helps during the siege of Pirates Swoop, his home with Alanna. He also appears in "Daughter of the Lioness" in the Copper Isles to visit his daughter in disguise.

Appearance

George is a lean young man with white teeth and tan skin. He has bright hazel eyes and brown hair cut short, like most commoners. He also described as having a nose too big for good looks, but looks handsome when he smiles. He is supposed to be around six feet 4 inches. He is heavily muscled and has eyes that are full of mischief. He carries around knives/daggers as to be always ready for an attack, legacy of his time as the Rogue, or the King of Thieves in Tortall. His daughter Alianne, the main character of "Trickster's Queen", is also always armed, and has George's hazel eyes.
