Mariano Yogore

Dr. Mariano G. Yogore, Jr. (1921–2006) was a Full Professor in the University of Chicago Department of Microbiology beginning in 1959 and also Professor and head of Institute of Public Health at the University of the Philippines. He also had held the position of Research Associate and Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Cellular Biology at Univ. of Chicago.

In 1945, he received his M.D. from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and finished his internship. He joined the faculty at the U.P., working for the Institute of Hygiene and was selected by the institution to train at Johns Hopkins University where he received a Master of Public Health (1948), and later, the Doctor of Public Health (1957) degree. He worked for the U.P. prior to emigrating to the United states for more than 22 years (from 1945 to 1967) leaving as a Full Professor. He also held a World Health Organization Fellowship (1954) during his career, and received a USPHS Post Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Chicago Department of Microbiology.

He was a member of several several honor societies and professional organizations, and listed as Philippine Man of Science (1964) and American Men and Women of Science No. 1218.
