- Jeremy Broomfield
Jeremy Broomfield (b. June 2, 1975) is a New York-based musician, writer, humorist, and comics artist.
Music
His first record, "Fear Not", was independently released in 1999. The record pops and buzzes with a textured lo-fi melancholy, exploring dystopic themes of futuristic decay. Musically, the album positions itself somewhere between lo-fi guitar pop acts like
Guided By Voices andThe Mountain Goats and electro artists likeFischerspooner ,Ms. John Soda , andDntel .His second record, "The Broomfield Variations", recorded under the moniker John Barleycorn, has been finished for years but has yet to enjoy even an independent release, although a video for the first single, "What's Your Name?" was produced in 2004. Several songs from "Variations" can be heard at Broomfield's website.
Blogs
Broomfield's main blog is written under the alter ego "Universal Donor".
When the site was founded in April 2002, it was co-written by a collaborator known as Pussy Willow, whose contributions ceased in November of the same year. In April 2003, a collaborator known as Gregor Samsa joined the site. By November of that year, he ceased writing for the site.
He also has a blog in a debate-like format called UDvCLM, co-written with Claude le Monde. The duo also feature their comics on this site, several of which were published in The Backwards City Review in 2005.
