"The Boulevard" is a Long Island/New York City Regional Variety magazine owned by Anton Community Newspapers. Founded in 1997, it was well received as a bi-monthly newspaper inserted into selective weekly newspapers in and around Long Island's famous Gold Coast.

History

The magazine began as a newspaper featuring mostly charity events, minor celebrity stories and special features that catered to the higher class villages of the Nassau County North Shore Communities, commonly referred to the "Gold Coast".

Newspaper to Magazine

Publisher and CEO, Angela Susan Anton, had a dream and vision of taking The Boulevard to the next level. In October 2006,she took that dream and made it a reality. The Boulevard was transformed into an elegant glossy magazine featuring Dina Lohan, mother of Lindsay Lohan as the cover in October 2006. Celebrity Photographer Patrick McMullan signed on as the Magazine's lead photographer. The current Editor in Chief is Jason Feinberg.

ections and changes

The Boulevard, in its first three issues, contained additional sections of Travel, Design, Charity Events, Celebs, The Island, Fashion, Wine & Dine and Photo Gallery.

By the forth issue, the Magazine underwent slight design changes, streamlining the colors and better defining the sections. The sections changed were: Charity Events to Events, The Island to Lifestyle, Celebs to Profiles, and a Health Section was added.

Distribution

As of April 2008, the Boulevard was circulated via the Anton Community Newspapers to 37 Communities in the North Shore of Nassau County. It is distributed to over 400 locations on Long Island. Readership is about 180 thousand (estimated).

Parties

Parties: The Boulevard has created an additional name for itself with its parties. Typically a Cover party is hosted in New York City or Long Island once every other month. The parties are featured in the next issue of the magazine. Additionally, the Magazine and its parties have been featured in the Daily News Page Six, Liz Smith, Newsday, the Post and several online media and radio outlets.

The Boulevard magazine was originally oversized pages as a newspaper. The magazine shrank to the conventional 8 1/2 X 11 in 2006.
