Gabriel Tamaş (born 9 November 1983 in Braşov) is a Romanian football defender. He currently plays for FC Dinamo Bucureşti.

On 25 March, 2008 he was decorated by the president of România, Traian Băsescu for the results on Qualifying to EURO 2008 and qualification to UEFA Euro 2008 Group C with Medalia "Meritul Sportiv" — (The Medal "The Sportive Merit") class III.

Football career

Tamaş started his career at native clubs in lower divisions. In the summer of 2002 he transferred to Dinamo Bucureşti, and a year later went to Galatasaray.

He then moved to FC Spartak Moscow in January 2004, but got loaned back to Dinamo Bucureşti in summer 2004, returning to Spartak in January 2006. Another loan soon followed, this time to Celta de Vigo in summer 2006. The following season he joined AJ Auxerre.After one year spent at AJ Auxerre he joined Dinamo Bucureşti for a one year loan.

International career

Tamaş made his debut for Romania against Slovakia, in March 2003.

He was the captain of Romanian U-21 team who finished third in its group in 2006 UEFA U-21 Championship qualification.
