Pyin Oo Lwin , (), also known as DSA, is a Ministry of Defense administered university for young high school graduates. The purpose of the Academy is to train new generation of highly educated and well-rounded officers for Myanmar's armed forces. It offers degrees in Arts, Physical Sciences and Computer Science at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The undergraduate degree programs used to last 4-years and has subsequently changed to 3-years from the 41st intake.History
The Defense Services Academy was first established in Fort Ba Htoo near Yauksauk in
Southern Shan State ,Burma on14 February 1955 . The DSA, was moved its base to the British hill station ofPyin Oo Lwin inMandalay Division in June 1957. As one of the mostBurma 's prestigious military academy, many young male high school graduates are interested to attend the academy with the aim of future career in the military. The selection process is rigorous and part of it are physical fitness testing, ability for teamwork and comradeship screening, psychometric and general interviews. As of 49th intake in 2007, DSA is open only to male applicants, though it seeks multi-ethnic groups to collaborate in the academy.Alumi in Timeline
