Taylor Walker & Co was a
brewery founded in 1730 inStepney as Salmon and Hare, and later became Hare and Hartford. The brewery moved to Fore Street,Limehouse in 1823 and into the Barley Mow Brewery in 1889.Taylor Walker & co merged with

Allied itself merged with Carlsberg in 1992 and became Carlsberg-Tetley.The Barley Mow Brewery brewery was closed in 1960 and was torn down in the mid-sixties ["British Breweries: An Architectural History" by Lynn F. The Barley Mow pub in
Limehouse was attached to the brewery, it is now called The Narrow [http://www.gordonramsay.com/thenarrow/history/ The Narrow website] and is owned byGordon Ramsay Holdings. Beer bearing the Taylor Walker name was brewed at theBurton plant ofAllied Breweries (Ind Coope's successor) until the mid 1990s.References
