- The Loin's Mouth
The Loin's Mouth (as in the San Francisco Tender"loin") is a semi-quarterly, Tenderloin-based publication about life in the San Francisco Tenderloin and Tenderloin Heights area. It was conceived of by its Editor, Rachel M., in the spring of 2006. It released its first issue in June of the same year. Articles are generally humorous and typically revolve around a central theme of each issue, such "Love in the Loin" (released in February 2007). Content ranges from fake news stories to editorial pieces to short stories with such titles as "One Night Stand," "Friday Night Fights," and "I, Drunkard." Contributors vary dramatically in age, background, and education.
Maxon Crumb (brother ofR. Crumb ) has submitted several illustrations.The Loin's Mouth has a circulation of approximately 6,000 and is distributed free-of-charge in bars, cafes, and bookstores in the Tenderloin,
SOMA , theMission District , and onPolk Street , as well as atCity Lights Bookstore inNorth Beach andAmoeba Records in theUpper Haight .External links
