Wellington, New Zealand based drag troupe consisting of seasoned performers Ellie Kat (the reigning Miss Drag Wellington), Victoria, Natasha Crowe and La Toya Jacksin, named after the cheerleading team in the TV show Popular.All had been performing as individuals or together for five years including sell-out shows in Wellington, Hamilton, Nelson and
Christchurch , and came together in early2007 to form New Zealand's first super-drag-troupe with a big promotional campaign resulting in newspaper covers in "Express", "The Wellingtonian" and "Capital Times". "The Wellingtonian" called them "New Zealand's top drag troupe" in the 8 March 2007 issue.Their first public performance as The Glamazons was at the Wellington Gay and Lesbian Fair afterparty on March 10 which was sold out. There they performed in a battle alongside chart-topping musical act Boyband.
They have since opened 'Out Takes' - New Zealand's gay and lesbian film festival and headlined 'Proud 2007', Wellington's LGBT pride week in August 2007, had a sell-out
Spice Girls tribute show and performed at the Hamilton Gardens Summer Arts Festival in February 2008. In March 2008, they again headlined the after-party for Out in the Square - Wellington's gay and lesbian fair, alongsideNZ Idol winnerRosita Vai .In July 2008, The Glamazons appeared alongside other national drag acts including Chanel D'Vinci, Miss Gloriasole, Drag Kings - Slash and Burn and Felicity Frockaccino at the Fuel Festival of New Zealand Theatre in Hamilton. In a review that came out about the show, the drag troupe were described as 'delightful . . . fresh and funny ', 'polished and entertaining'. Something unprecidented by any drag troupe yet seen in New Zealand.
Currently - The Glamazons are on Hiatus, creating and choreographing their next big show, due to be onstage in Wellington, late 2008/early 2009.
