"Havhingsten fra Glendalough" ("Sea Stallion from
Glendalough ") is a Danish reconstruction of "Skuldelev 2", one of theSkuldelev ships . The original ship was built around1042 nearDublin .The original ship was built with oak from
Glendalough ,Wicklow ,Ireland , hence the ship's name. The reconstruction was built at the shipyard of theViking Ship Museum in Roskilde from2000 to2004 ."Havhingsten fra Glendalough" is a reconstruction of the second longest
viking longship that currently is found. It is used for research.Research trip to Dublin 2007
A return journey to
Dublin took place over the Summer of 2007. The ship left Roskilde Harbour onJuly 1 and arrived in Dublin onAugust 14 . She was on display inCollins Barracks , the Decorative Arts & History building of theNational Museum of Ireland from17 August 2007 until29 May 2008. After that she was moved toGrand Canal Dock to be prepared for the journey back to Roskilde on29 June 2008.Additional reading
