Barnstable ,Massachusetts and ancestor of a number of famous Americans including PresidentsFranklin D. Roosevelt ,George H. W. Bush andGeorge W. Bush . Several Lothropp family members have death or burial dates recorded asJanuary 6 ,1588 , but as there is no record of a catastrophic event on that date, it is believed to be merely a recording date to catch up on vital statistics which had gone unreported for some length of time.Etton has been known to suffer quite badly during
floods , due to its position in a smallvalley .The most recent flood in the village,25 June 2007 , has been said to be the worst seen in 50 years.References
