- Russell Gilbrook
Russell Gilbrook (born in 1964) is the new drummer for the British
progressive rock band Uriah Heep.Over the last few years Russell Gilbrook has been establishing himself on the
UK clinic tour scene and impressing many with his unique brand of performing and teaching. He has supported artists such as Greg Bissonette and completed a tour withLiberty Devito . Russell continually strives to push himself musically and has played in a remarkably diverse set of situations. He has worked/toured with the respected jazz artistChris Barber and his band, and alsoAlan Price on whose album 'Liberty' Russell features,and of course filled the stool of the late greatCozy Powell in Bedlam (where he played with brothers Dave andDenny Ball , plus singerFrank Aiello ). Russell has also played with ex-Camel keyboard playerPete Bardens and features on one of his albums.Russell has also worked with
Tony Iommi . His softer side is further demonstrated on work/tours withLonnie Donegan ,John Farnham plus the legendaryVan Morrison .Not content with just playing, Russell teaches on the "Musicians" channel on Sky and holds a position at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music; he has also published several teaching guides. Russell is regarded as one of the UK's finest drummers and clinicians and has demonstrated specialist drum clinics all over Europe.
For the last four years he has also drummed with the top Essex covers band Exposé with Dave Moore (vocals), Pete Finch (keyboards), Alan Montague (Bass) and Jamie Humphries (guitar). He can still be seen with them regularly when not touring with Uriah Heep.
