Edward "Ted" Morgan (
April 5 ,1906 –November 22 ,1952 ) was a boxer fromNew Zealand , who won the gold medal in the men'swelterweight division at the 1928 Summer Olympics inAmsterdam, Netherlands . Morgan won the Gold Medal despite competing throughout the tournament with a dislocated knuckle in his left hand. Wellington , and attended Te Aro School and Wellington College. He married sprinterNorma Wilson , who also competed at the 1928 Olympics.He fought professionally from 1929 to 1934. He fought in America in 1931, and later fought in Australia. He referreed in Wellington for years after retiring.
Although he was a non-smoker, he died from lung cancer in Wellington due to the inhalation of fumes while working as a plumber

Morgan was the New Zealand Amateur Lightweight Champion in 1925 and 1927.
