- Neo-publicism
Neopublicism is an artistic movement which asserts that the press and publicity resulting from a real, or perceived, work of art is as much a part of the artwork as the artwork being reported on. It also asserts that the creator(s) of the press articles are the artists.
Neo-publicism was first coined in an article by
Ralph Rugoff inFrieze Magazine [Frieze Magazine issue 42, 1998] entitled 'Yours Sincerly', which attributed the phrase to work exhibited at theDecima gallery in London and toThe Leeds 13 , among others.Mark McGowan is another exponent of neo-publicism.Exhibitions
