Social presence

Social presence

Social Presence is the ability of learners to project their personal characteristics into the community of inquiry, thereby presenting themselves as 'real people’ through the media of communication Communities of Inquiry by Garrison et al at U of Calgary.

Social presence is also called co-presence by Zhao, it's a term used in virtual reality or online learning.

Copresence is defined as consisting of two dimensions:copresence as mode of being with others, and copresence as sense of being with others. Mode of copresence refers to the physical conditions that structure humaninteraction.

Sense of copresence, on the other hand, refers to the subjective experience of being with others that an individual acquires in interaction.
