Reginald Stephey

Reginald Stephey is a convicted drunk driver who crashed into another vehicle, killed two people, and caused a fire in the other car in which Jacqueline Saburido was severely disfigured. In 2001, he was convicted of intoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to seven years in prison and a US$20,000 fine.

Stephey had been drinking on the night of the September 18 1999. Early the next morning he decided to drive home, and on a road he veered into the path of another car with five occupants, killing two and injuring two of the other passengers. The fifth passenger, Jacqueline Saburido, was pinned into her seat, and suffered third-degree burns on 60 percent of her body when the car caught fire.

The case has received a lot of media attention worldwide, due to the severe burns scars endured by Saburido. She and Stephey have reconciled.
