River Plate Football Club, was a sports club from Uruguay, founded in 1904 in Montevideo, the country's capital.

River Plate is considered one of the 4 "bigs" of the first epoc in uruguayan football,along rivals Montevideo Wanderers and the two classic clubs of CURCC(Peñarol) and Nacional.River reached important achievements in the amateur era of uruguayan football. In fact, Uruguay national football team uniform is a sky blue shirt in tribute to this team victories with their alternative sky blue shirt over argentina´s Alumni Athletic Club,the most important club of the amateur era in Argentina.River Plate remained unbeaten against Alumni. After the second decade of the twentieth century, the club entered in ostracism and disappeared in 1929.
