Kelakam

Kelakam is a town in the Kannur district of Kerala. The Bavali River runs through the town, and the Kottiyoor Sivva temple is seven kilometres away. Kelakam got its name from words "kela" "kam" meaning resting place of "bullock" referring to resting place of the bullock of Lord Shiva. It is in the Christian migration belt but different religious groups live harmoniously. The town is known for its hill produce including pepper, rubber, tapioka, cocconut etc. The land around Kelakam is fertile and is preferred for farming. The town has recently witnessed a boom in land prices thanks to high price for rubber products.The town is a centre for textiles and jewelry shops.The famous jewellery in this city is Maharajas Jewellery.In this Area almost eight churches are located And the famous temple in this area is Moorchilakkattu Devi Temple.This area is Famous for red rock Quaries.
