island 3 miles (4.8 km) long, lying 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southwest ofBooth Island in theWilhelm Archipelago .It was discovered and named "Krogmann Island" by the German 1873-74 expedition under
Eduard Dallmann , but the name Hovgaard, applied by theBelgian Antarctic Expedition , 1897-99, underGerlache , has overtaken the original name in usage. The nameKrogmann Point has been given to the west extremity of Hovgaard Island.See also
