Adam Davy

Adam Davy (born 30.08.1977) is an actor and an accomplished multi-instrumentalist.

Biography

Adam Luke Davy grew up in London, England. At the age of 8 he moved with his family to Oxford, where he was educated at 'The Cherwell School', then later at 'Henley College'.

Career

At the age of 8 Adam joined the Mushey Pea Theatre Group formed by Humphrey Carpenter, creator of Mr Majeika, a series of children's books adapted for TV, which then premiered as a musical in 1995 at 'The Shaw Theatre' in London with Adam playing the title role of the 60 year old magician at the age of 15. In the same venue that year, in rep, Adam Davy also played cameo roles as Charlie Chaplin and Hollywood director Busby Berkeley in Babes, the life story of Judy Garland. When Humphrey died, Adam was interviewed by Libby Purves about playing Mr Majeika and was asked to read an extract from the final Mr Majeika book at the Oxford Union during literary festival, which dedicated the last day of the festival as a tribute and celebration of Humphrey's life.

In 1997 Adam Davy won a place at the world famous Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where he was part of the last group to receive tuition from guru acting teacher, Rudi Shelley, who taught actors such as Jeremy Irons, Daniel Day Lewis, Peter O' Toole and Anthony Hopkins. Shortly before graduating in 2000, Adam was asked to take part in 'The Story of Christmas', for which he was awarded, by the patron of the Charitable organisation -Dame Judi Dench - the much needed sum of £1000 to contribute to his final year's fees at the drama school.

On the music front, Adam Davy composed the music for the radio play, 'Clean Sheets', for BBC Bristol in 2000 and has toured with many bands/musicians, including Andy Leek, of the 'Dexys Midnight Runners', legendary poet/musician Pete Brown. He has put his saxophone playing to Jazz poetry performed by John Hegley. Venues and events at which he has performed include 'Smalls Jazz Cafe' NY, 'Pink Elephant Jazz Bar', the Cork Jazz Festival, The Rhoda Mcgaw Theatre, the Royal polo event, Cartier and the, 'Kay Club', Ireland, home to the world famous Ryders cup golf tournament. In 2002, Adam played Alto sax in 'The Ghost Orchestra' for BBC Radio 2.

In 2003, he played Joseph in the stage play 'We Happy Few', written by Imogen Stubbs and directed by Trevor Nunn. In 2004, The Play transferred from the 'Malvern Theatre' to the Gielgud Theatre in the West End of London. He went on to play the young C. S. Lewis in the biopic 'C S lewis: Beyond Narnia', filmed by BAFTA winning director Norman Stone in 2004 and subsequently screened at Cannes Film Festival.

Currently Adam is working with 'Us Not Them', a top Pink Floyd tribute act. He will also be composing music for a new film project, still in production.
