Juba National University, commonly referred to as the University of Juba, is located in the northern suburbs of
Khartoum , the capital ofSudan but named after the capital ofSouthern Sudan Juba. In late 2006, the Government of Southern Sudan's Ministry of Education agreed to change its name to Juba National University. At present, it is the only university in Sudan which maintained English as its language of instruction after the Islamic revolution to meet the needs of its largely southern Sudanese non-Arabic speaking students and benefit from International teaching material. It mostly serves students from the ten southern states of Southern Sudan andSudan in general. Juba University is in the process being transferred from a Khartoum campus to the capital ofSouthern Sudan Juba City inCentral Equatoria state.Infobox_University

Juba University was founded in response to the need for facilities of higher education in Southern Sudan.
chools and Colleges
Juba University is divided into eleven (11) colleges: the College of Medicine, the College of Engineering, the College of Applied Sciences, the College of Natural Resources, the College of Social and Economic Studies, the College of Arts and Humanitarian Studies, the College of Music and Arts, the College of Law, the College of Rural Development, the School of Management and the College of Education.
