Celso

Celso Dias dos Santos better known as Celso, (born February 28, 1956 in Santos (Sao Paulo)] is a former Brazilian footballer who played for FC Porto and was part of their European Cup victory in 1987.

Celso played as as central defender and joined Porto when moving to Europe from his hometown club of Santos Futebol Clube. In the 1986-7 season he scored 3 goals for Porto en route to their victory in the European Cup, despite playing as a defender. Celso was brought to Portugal in 1985 as a centre-forward and was a noted long-range free-kick expert before being converted to a defender for Porto.

In November 1987 Celso was named in the World Soccer World XI despite not having been capped at international level. [World Soccer, November 1987 p48]
