Banu Khutheer -clan of Al Hajaj Tribe

Banu Khutheer -clan of Al Hajaj Tribe (آل خضير من قبايل حجاج) are a clan that originally goes back to their ancestor Hashid, who in turn comes from the house of Himdaan. And Himdaan, the Great Great Ancestor of the Hajaj Tribes accepted islam from Ali bin Abi Taleb.

Before Muhammad sent Ali to Yemen, he first sent, Khalid bin Al-Waleed - however the clans from the House of Himdaan did not accept Islam first.The companion Ali was Muhammad to teach the tribes of Yemen to accept Islam, in which Himdaan had accepted.

Banu Khutheer -clan of Al Hajaj Tribe are also known Qahtan Arabs or Qahtanites.

History

Al Hajaj Tribe consists of a number of subclans and they have a region in Al Baitha region of Yemen named after them (Hajaj). And the region next to Hajaj is known as Al Riyashia. Al Riyashia is a region that contains subclans that originally come from Hadthramout. Both regions were under the command of Al-Sultan Amr Abd al-Wahab. Al-Sultan Amr Abdul Wahab came from the house of Banu Taher. Sultan Amr Abdul Wahab lived is a village called Al-Maqrana, and this village was made the capital of Kingdom in which The House of Khutheer also originated from. However after the Invasion by the Imam Ziad forces, the Sultan was disposed. Before he was disposed he had willed for the House of Khutheer lands and farms close to the old capital and so therefore Banu Khutheer moved away from magrana and named the newly found village after themselves; Al-Khutheeria.

However the region that belongs to Al Hajaj tribe had undergone certain changes in the past couple of hundreds of years.

The head of Ahl-Khutheer clan decided that the village of Al Khutheeria should be welcomed to other clans that had recently emigrated, however these clans were not the original Sons of Hajaj but this had to be done in order to strengthen the original Hajaj tribe.

The Banu Khutheer and the Yemeni civil war

During the North Yemen Civil War the Tribe of Hajaj were general in support of the Yemen Arab Republic forces, which consisted mainly of tribes from the north of Yemen and their main opposition was the Southern Communist forces. The Hajaj tribe played an important role during the war as sometimes the frontline were made in their lands.
