Shane Doherty

Shane Doherty

Shane Doherty is an Irish writer and actor. He is best known for his early roles in the Scor na Nog novelty act competition where his portrayal of St. Peter in the political Parody, No Rest For the Wicked, in 1999 which received much critical acclaim and was a runner up in the All Ireland final. He worked on this project with Longford producer, Micky Kenny, and although he did not write the script, the members of the cast report that the comedy was mostly down to his improvisation and eccentric stage presence. He then took the part of Curly in Barney Mahon's Production of The Country Boy 2002 which saw him leave his roots in comedy to play a more conservative part as the troubled young farmer. In spite of his portrayal of Curly receiving much critical acclaim, many people wished for him to return to comedy. He has stated a number of times his desire to work in television and has begun writing a series for television backed by Yew Tree Productions.
