Beejan Olfat

Beejan Olfat (born 14 February 1985 in Paddington, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian actor and award-winning [http://www.griffintheatre.com.au/production.cfm?productionID=30] playwright of Iranian decent.

Olfat is a graduate of ACTT's Talented Young Actors' Program, NIDA Young Actors Studio and Playwright's Studio. He also trained at Australian Theatre for Young People.

He has performed in stage plays by William Shakespeare, Michael Gow, David Hare, Bertold Brecht, Debra Oswald, Ned Manning, Cyril Tourneur, Thomas Middleton, Alfred Jarry, Alex Broun, Mark Ravenhill, Tommy Murphy, Nazım Hikmet Ran, Frank Marcus, Alan Bennett, Tony Kushner and José Rivera

In 2003 he set up ROAR Theatre Company and became one of Australia's youngest theatre producers.

In 2004 he co-starred in The Black Balloon (film) director Elissa Down’s Tropfest short film Summer Angst. He also guest starred in an episode of the Australian medical drama series All Saints (TV series)

In 2005 he toured to Northern Ireland performing in Debra Oswald's Skate at The Belfast Festival at Queens.

His own plays have been performed by Griffin Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company and Old Fitzroy Theatre, Sydney. In 2003 he won the Sydney Theatre Company Young Playwright's Merit Award. In 2004 He won the senior section of the Sydney Theatre Company Young Playwright's Award for his play The Arrival.

In 2007 he performed in Melbourne Theatre Company's The History Boys by Alan Bennett which opened in April 2007 at The Arts Centre (Melbourne).

In 2008 he performed in Alex Galeazzi's critically acclaimed production of Tony Kushner's
