Korean American weekend news anchor and general assignment reporter during the week for NBC4/WRC-TV , the localNBC televisionaffiliate inWashington, DC . She has worked at NBC4 News since 2002.Prior to her position at NBC4 News, she was one of the first reporters hired by the
National Geographic Channel in Washington, DC. Earlier she worked for 6 years at W*USA 9, where she began as a reporter trainee and made her way up to substitute anchor.Biography
Eun Yang was born in
Seoul ,South Korea and grew up in the Washington, DC, area. She graduated fromPaint Branch High School in Burtonsville,Maryland , in 1991. She earned a degree inbroadcast journalism from the University of Maryland in 1995.Yang met Robert Kang while doing a story on single life. She interviewed Kang, a pastor at the Church In Bethesda, about couples who meet at church. A year later in 2001 they married in front of more than 600 guests Rich, Cindy. Professional Career
Eun Yang began her broadcast journalism career while at the University of Maryland. She worked as a reporter for Maryland Update, a program on the University's cable channel, then moved to TV-58 where she freelanced as a special projects reporter for Asian-Pacific American affairs.
In 1995 she worked full-time as a W*USA 9 production assistant while finishing her last year at the University of Maryland. She was a reporter trainee for a year when the station started its weekend-morning newscast.
After 6 years at W*USA 9, Yang became one of the first correspondents for the National Geographic Channel in Washington, DC. On September 11, 2001, she was doing a story at a museum and her first instinct as a news reporter was to start reporting but the television channel did not cover
breaking news . This propelled her to go back to broadcast news.In 2002 after turning down a job in New York, the nation's number-one market, she joined NBC4 as a reporter--so that she could stay in Washington, DC--and started anchoring on weekends in 2004.
