Puerto Rico
Claribel started her artistic career in the early 1980s when opera singer Alex Vázquez, chose her to have a role in the musical piece "The passion and death of Our Lord Jesus Christ."[1]
Medina worked with Luis Vigoreaux in the 1983 theater production, "La Verdadera Historia de Pedro Navaja". Prior to that, she had made her television debut, on a telenovela named "La Verdadera Eva".
Her first shot at fame in Puerto Rico came early in 1984, when she worked, alongside Braulio Castillo, hijo, Sully Díaz and Salvador Pineda, among others, in the Telemundo Puerto Rico telenovela "Coralito". "Coralito" became a viewer favorite, and Medina had a prominent character in the soap opera.
Medina dedicated 1986 entirely to theater plays, appearing in six of them. In 1987 the actress returned to television with Tele Once's telenovela "La Isla".
Argentina
In 1989, Medina and her husband Pablo Alarcon decided to move permanently to Argentina. By 1990, she was becoming well known in that country, participating in the acclaimed telenovela "Apasionada".
Medina starred in 2004 in the Telefe soap opera, "Los Roldan", which reached decent levels of popularity among Argentine viewers.
Family life
In 1987 Medina married Argentine actor Pablo Alarcón. In 1989, Medina gave birth to Antonella the first of two daughters she had with Alarcón.[2] In 1995, Medina and Alarcón divorced, and Medina remained in Argentina after the divorce.
Medina chose to stay in Argentina because her two daughters were born there and thus were used to living in that country. In addition, Medina was busy filling a heavy television schedule that, since 2004, continues to keep her busy. She did return to Puerto Rico for a brief period, where she spent a vacation in 1997 with her daughters. The purpose of her trip to Puerto Rico was to have her daughters meet their grandparents and the country where their mother was born.
