Wong Kin Ming (Chinese: 王建明), also known as Alexander Wong, was born in
Hong Kong and was educated inSt. Joan of Arc School , King’s College,University of Hong Kong and theInns of Court School of Law inEngland . He obtained his first degree in 1974 before he pursued his study of the law. He was called to theEnglish Bar (Gray’s Inn ) in 1979. Wong first served as aCrown Counsel in theAttorney General ’s Chambers in Hong Kong before he went into private practice at theHong Kong Bar in 1981.couting
Wong joined
Scouting as a boy member in 1961. He was warranted asScoutmaster after becoming aQueen’s Scout in 1968. He had his first Headquarters appointment asProject Officer (Headquarters Commissioner ) as early as 1970 when he was only 19. He resumed his Headquarters appointments asAssistant Chief Commissioner since 1997.Wong was appointed
International Commissioner ofThe Scout Association of Hong Kong in May 1997 and served one full term until December 2001.Asia Pacific Region
During his International Commissionership, Wong maintained strong ties and links with the
National Scout Organizations (NSOs) within and outside the Asia Pacific Region (APR). He is the most recognised face from Hong Kong in international events held world-wide.Wong has served in various APR Sub committees since 1995. He is currently the Chairman of the Regional Governance Review Task Force of APR, APR Scout Foundation Silver Palm Member, Africa Scout Foundation Silver Lion member and Baden Powell Fellow of the World Scout Foundation. Apart from awards from Hong Kong, Wong received various scout awards from the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Canada. He was also awarded with the APR Chairman Award in 2001.
