Independência is a tiny neighborhood of the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil.
The neighborhood was created by Law 2022 of December 7, 1959.

Limits
The neighborhood is limited with the Rua da Conceição, the left of Avenida Independência and by Avenida Alberto Bins, from Avenida Cristóvão Colombo to Rua Santo Antônio, near Rua Gonçalo de Carvalho; near Rua Pinheiro Machado, another section from Tiradentes to Rua Dr. Valle, near Rua Mostardeiro; up to Avenida Independência; from Rua Castro Alves to the area with the east-west direction and always parallel with Av. Independência and southward to Praça D. Sebastião; with Rua Sarmento Leite to Avenida Independência with an intersection with Rua da Conceição.
