Realitopia

Realitopia

Realitopia is a term used to refer to the best possible or maximized community within the common interest community structure. The combination of the terms realistic and utopia show that while a theoretical utopia is impossible to implement, communities can still strive for the best possible communities by maximizing social capital and the sense of community with a common-interest community. [See Jeremy R. Moss, Comment, Venture (Social) Capitalists, Reinvigorating Common-Interest Communities through an Infusion of Philosophy, 1 J.L. Phil. & Culture (publication forthcoming Spring 2007).]

The term is not necessarily limited to the common-interest community (CIC) context, but can be used to describe the best realistic society for a particular community structure.
