Shaun Rubenstein

Shaun Rubenstein (born 5 November 1983) is a South African canoeist.

As a junior canoeist, Rubenstein competed in all forms of the sport, from sprints to river marathons. He was a member of the South African junior sprint and flat-water marathon teams, competing internationally. His best junior result was at the 2001 World Marathon Champs where he won a bronze medal in the K1 event.

He has been competing internationally at senior level since 2002.

World Marathon Championships

In September 2006 at the World Marathon Championships in Tremolat, Shaun competed in both the K1 event, where he won the gold medal, and the K2 event, where he won the silver medal with his partner Shaun Biggs, over Marathon legend Manual Busto Fernandes and his K2 partner Emilio Merchan Alonso. Beijing Olympics 2008

Shaun has recently qualified for a place in South Africa's Olympic Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This qualification was attained when Rubenstein finished 7th in the men's K1 1000m and 8th in the men's K1 500m at the 2007 World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.

On 18 August 2008, Shaun came fifth in the men's K1 1000m Heat 1 finishing with a time of 3:36.134.

On 19 August 2008, Shaun finished fifth with a time of 1:37.687 in the men's K1 500m event in Heat 1.

He qualified for the Olympic semi-finals in both races.
