Planet Hope

Planet Hope is a ministry program dedicated to the youth population in Puerto Rico and other areas. Their goal is to reach out to other people, especially the youth, and to teach them about various aspects of life, including — as it is based on the doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church — aspects related to the spiritual and religious teachings of God and the Bible. The primary method used for reaching out is to make the youth society or reunion more interesting by using contemporary ways of life as guidelines.

History

The ministry began on October 26, 2003. By that time, the youth societies and reunions were beginning to evaporate and be forgotten by the youth themselves. That is why a group of youth in the Litheda Adventist church started to organize and elaborate a program that could keep the reunions and societies running and full of people every Friday night. They came out with the idea of a program with different sections, each of them supporting a theme. The idea was to give the youth the chance to elaborate and present every program for the societies. Because of the difference between the old way of doing the programs and this whole new idea, they came up with the name Planet Hope. At first the local church and the Local Adventist Conference of eastern Puerto Rico didn't recognized it as part of the church, but they accepted the program giving it three to six months of probation. The program was fully accepted by May 2004 and it was made as a ministry, part of the local church of Litheda, working alongside the church's youth department. Since its beginning, the ministry program has been successful, attracting more and more people to God.

Purpose and objectives

Their primary purposes and objectives are to create an ambience and program adapted to the needs and likes of the youth, while developing a special relationship with God, provoking in them the desire to bring more people, using and developing the talents of each and every one of them. The main objectives are to create leaders, to provide space for the growth of talents and abilities, to establish a youth evangelism center and to develop new friendly bonds with other people.

Working method

The ministry came up with the idea that because of the constant dynamic media and advanced technology the youth population receive, they have come to naturally adapt to process the information faster, thus they established a goal, to offer the teachings and the love of God faster enough for their reasoning capabilities with out compromising the doctrines and principles of the Adventist church. The program uses modern technology such as computers, projectors and audio-visual effects to improve and reinforce the program, making it more dynamic and interactive. The program also has a worship team and band, which is an important aspect of the program.

Youth Sabbath

The ministry has started with a new sistem of youth sabbath, it consists of multiple days of activities and worship. The first one was started in October 5 2007. The theme was "Break the Roof", consisting of three Fridays and three Saturdays, each weekend with a sub-theme, Evoke the cross, Invoke power, Provoke salvation.

Broadcasting

Planet Hope's programs and activities are broadcasted over the internet, providing people with the facilities of the world wide web to enjoy from the comfort of their homes. This way they expand their programs so that more people can be satisfied.
