The Shoshone Transmission Line was an early and notable electric power transmission line, now recorded on the List of IEEE Milestones.
The line began service on July 17, 1909, conveying power from the Shoshone Hydroelectric Generating Station, located on the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs, to Denver, Colorado. It was 153.4 miles long, operated at 90 kV, and crossed the Continental Divide three times at altitudes of up to 13,500 feet.
The IEEE has honored the line for its length, and for deployment in difficult terrain and unusually harsh weather patterns.
