Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center

Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZAB) is located at 8000 Louisiana Boulevard, Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. The Albuquerque ARTCC is one out of 22 Air Route Traffic Control Centers in the United States.

The primary responsibility is the separation of overflights, and the expedited sequencing of arrivals and departures along STARs (Standard Terminal Arrival Routes) and DPs (Departure Procedures) for Phoenix, Albuquerque, El Paso, Amarillo, Tucson, and Roswell.

ZAB assumes control over one "Class Bravo" (Class B) airport.

Along with several "Class Charlie" (Class C) airports.
* Albuquerque International Sunport Airport (ABQ) in Albuquerque, NM
* El Paso International Airport (ELP) in El Paso, TX
* Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA) in Amarillo, TX
* Tucson International Airport (TUS) in Tucson, AZ
* Roswell International Air Center Airport (ROW) in Roswell, NM

Center Breakdown

ZAB is comprised of 7 Ultra High Sectors, 16 High Altitude Sectors, 13 Low Altitude Sectors, and 3 Low-High Sectors. The vertical strata of these sectors vary greatly depending on the geographic location covered and the variety of traffic the controllers work.

Area Breakdown

Unlike most ARTCC's. ZAB along with a few other western Centers call their Area's - Specialties. In ZAB, there are 5 specialties all named after the region they cover within the airspace. Those five are Northwest, Southwest, North, East and Southeast specialties.
