Vijay Times was an English newspaper started by Vijayananda printers in the year 2003. It is one of the most circulated English daily in Karnataka and published from a number of cities in Karnataka. The newspaper along with other sister publications was bought by the Bennett, Coleman & Co. It ceased publication on 7 June 2007, and was replaced by the Bangalore Mirror. After the closure, many journalists moved in to The New Indian Express. Nirad Mudur became the Chief of Bureau (NIE), Bangalore in 2008 and Hemanth Kumar was a special correspondent for political affairs.
