- Phi Eta Kappa
Phi Eta Kappa (ΦΗΚ) is a fraternity at the
University of Maine . Founded in 1906, the Fraternity has been a presence on the Maine campus for over 100 years. During that time Phi Eta Kappa has remained unaffiliated with any national organizations, choosing instead to preserve their local tradition. Since 1910 the "Green Wave," as they are known, have been located in their Fraternity house on College Avenue inOrono, Maine . There are currently over 1,000 living members of Phi Eta Kappa.Athletics
Phi Eta Kappa has exceled historically at athletics. They have won the BC Kent Award more than all other fraternities at Umaine combined, which is awarded annually to the fraternity who has the highest combined point total for all intramual events. They also held the honor for nine consecutive years from 1994-2002.
World class athletes have also passed through the doors of Phi Eta, including Mike Buck who played four seasons as Quarterback in the NFL and holds most passing records at Maine and Greg Panora, professional powerlifter, who holds the world record for combined Bench, Squat and Deadlift(2481lbs) for the 242lb weight class.
