Paul Jaccard (
18 November 1868 inSainte-Croix -9 May 1944 inZurich ) was a professor of botany andplant physiology at theETH Zurich . He studied at theUniversity of Lausanne andETH Zurich (PhD 1894). He continued studies inParis withGaston Bonnier .He developed theJaccard index of similarity (he called it "coeficient de communauté") and published it in 1901Jaccard, P.
